Who knew that I would find such awesome sleep items to buy at IKEA?! Since IKEA is not someplace I visit to on a regular basis, I find it an extremely exciting field trip when I do have the opportunity to go.  Who knew that I would find such awesome sleep items to buy at IKEA?!

On my most recent visit, I was kid-free and spent a leisurely amount of time circling the store (brilliant how they make you pass every section, especially the food court).  I happily ended up spending a good amount of time in the children’s section and am happy to report that they had some really great sleep items.

Please join me on a virtual shopping trip where I will show you the awesome sleep items to buy at IKEA!

PYTTELILLA Wearable blanket IKEA Practical to bring along to create a cozy, familiar environment for your baby.

1.  PYTTELILLA – Wearable Blanket

A sleep sack is not only safe, it keeps your baby cozy and comfy.  They had quite a few, different styles and shapes and sizes ranging from 0-6 months and 6-18 months.  Bonus points that the sack seemed a little more substantial than others that I have seen. Who knows if it will be too heavy for the summer months but for today’s temperature, it is perfect.

At $17.99 and $19.99 ($12.99 for the 0-6 month size), it’s not that cheap but the quality seemed pretty good.  At that price point, I would hope that it will stand up to many times in the washing machine.

Verdict – Start your kid early in fashion, get outside of your solid color comfort zone.

Alternative:  Halo Sleep Sack with a cute design

2.  SPÖKA LED – Red Night LightSPÖKA LED night light IKEA

OK, I too was a little spooked when I first saw this guy, but the cuteness of this night light grew on me after a while.  In case you didn’t know, blue and white lights are not the optimal colors for a night light since the colors can be stimulating during what should be a restful time.  So, good for IKEA for creating a red night light!  Also, they have a LED bulb that will last over 25,000 hours and it offers a rechargeable battery (which will last 4-5 hours) and a charger .

IKEA’s site says that this guy is perfect at scaring monsters away – but I wouldn’t even open that can of worms since the discussion can open your child’s imagination further.  Simply put, you can say, this is a night light and will help keep you safe at night.  Or, don’t even say anything at all.  Call it your child’s first pet.  You can even name him.

Verdict:  Your child will never say that they have a boring night light!

Alternative:  Gummy Bear Red Night Light

 3.  KURA – Reversible bed

My 2+ year old is happily content in her crib and I am going to keep her there forever as long as possible. But, all good things must come to an end so of course I am secretly looking at beds for the future.  Little Miss M has a small room so I’d like to maximize storage as much as possible.  This bed is cool since you can flip it upside down and have the bed closer to the ground for younger kids and then flip it up (as shown) when they are older.

Verdict:  Hope my daughter doesn’t start climbing out of the crib…anytime soon!

Alternative:  This awesome slide and tent bunk bed.

4.  FAMNIG HJÄRTA – Heart Pillow FAMNIG HJÄRTA Cushion IKEA

Do you have a pillow in your child’s crib?  Well don’t worry, me neither.  Starting around 18 months is a good time to offer a pillow but don’t stress if your child doesn’t want it or use it.  Little Miss M has no interest in a pillow, or practically any animals or blankets. Now that she’s over 2, I am motivated to keep trying.  IKEA had a few really cute pillows like this which could be a fun alternative to a standard pillow.  IKEA also sells toddler pillows.  I ended up buying a similar pillow to the heart as shown, but it was a cute cloud pillow with a face.  Who wouldn’t like a cute cloud pillow?  Shocker, my kid didn’t.

Verdict:  At $4.99 it’s no sweat that this pillow may get tossed from the crib.

Alternative:  Toddler Organic Pillow

A fun day was in the books.  I made it out without meatballs and didn’t spend too much.  It was a win, win!  What are your favorite IKEA items that you buy?  Do you go out of your way to shop at IKEA, or is it a special occasion like me?
